The Best Way To Drink Coffee
Its been about six months now since I first tried bullet coffee and I wanted to give a brief update on how things are going. And while I'm at it, I decided to rewrite the original post!
So here we go
Last year when Lion was still an infant, he never adjusted to the time change. So he was constantly getting up between 5:30 and 6 in the morning. This would be fine if I worked a morning job or a "normal" job, but I work nights in a restaurant and on the weekends I handled cash. I would also have to get up with the boys on Saturday and Sunday. So long story short, I didn't get a lot of sleep on Saturday and even less on Sunday. This overall made for a long 4 months of running on exhaustion and coffee monsters.
Somewhere in that four months, I think I hit a caffeine overload. And before the caffeine would help keep me awake, it would make me crash first. This would happen whether I was drinking a coffee monster or just my normal cup of coffee. Thus began my search for a new way to drink coffee. And I started with a simple search "coconut oil in coffee". I had heard that coconut oil was supposed to do something in coffee I just didn't know what.
And that is how I stumbled upon bullet coffee. It is a coffee, grassfed butter, and coconut oil concoction that is supposed to be wonder coffee. So I knew I had to try it... just to see if it would limit my coffee crashes.

Overall making Bullet Coffee in the morning takes just a little bit longer to make than regular coffee, (You do have to blend it first!), but not that much longer.
For the first five months or so I was drinking bullet coffee I used a single serve blender. (I'm sure they're great for smoothies and such, but not a great investment for coffee.) This led to five months of really terrible coffee. In fact I wasn't sure I even liked bullet coffee, but I was determined to see if it would work.
And little by little, I think the bullet coffee helped reset my system. So while I still do suffer sometimes from a caffeine crash, its not immediately and its definitely seems to be more gradually.
Once I knew that I was definitely going to keep drinking bullet coffee, i decided to invest in an actual blender. (I went with Kitchenaid, so it would match my stand mixer, but any blender should do the trick!)
It was actually amazing what a difference that made too. My coffee transformed from hot buttery coffee that I had to gulp down just to drink it to fairly decent coffee that I could let linger for a little while.
It really has become my coffee of choice!
(And if you wanted to read about how bullet coffee helped me lose weight, then you are out of luck. I did lose a little weight from drinking bullet coffee, but that was also couple with my giving up soda and the sugar I used to add to my coffee. And I think my body was also finally getting back to normal after having Lion too.)
