Learning the Perfect Machine Applique!
If you will recall, when I made the name blankets I attempted to machine stitch around my applique letters and after trying on letter I decided to just hand stitch around the letters instead. So when I was thinking up ideas for my fleece animal pillows, I knew that I wanted to monogram them. And after trying to stitch around them with no idea what I was doing (and failing massively!), I decided to turn to Pinterest to learn the right way to do it!
The Technique
Learning how to properly stitch on Appliques

Fabric to stitch Applique on
Sewing Machine with at least a Zig Zag stitch

Results
The biggest thing I learned is how important an applique presser foot is to do this properly.
I especially love that the applique foot is clear, but also has a clear marked stitch line. (I'm no sure if that's the right term.. probably not... I'll fix it when I figure it out!). It made keeping my stitches centered so much easier.
Here is how my first letter turned out!
Clearly letters are not the ideal starter project for this, but I think overall it turned out okay. So I moved onto the other two letters.
And here is how the entire thing turned out:
The letters aren't completely perfect, but the yellow thread blends in enough to hide an nit picky flaws I'm sure only I can notice!
