My First Attempt At Homemade Chili

While I was recovering from having my wisdom teeth out, I did a lot of cooking. (I know its weird. Mike normally handles the cooking in my house, but I guess the drugs gave me a weird sense of confidence in the kitchen). And one of the things I made was chili. Normally I just buy the stuff in a can and call it a day. But for some reason, (the drugs it must have been the drugs!), I decided I wanted to make it from scratch.

Now this should come as no surprise, but I really had no idea what I was doing. And instead of looking for a recipe on Pinterest before heading to the store, I just decided to wing it. After staring at cans of chili (and wondering why there isn't a decent no meat version to pick from), I was at a loss for what to do. That was until I finally turned around and found all the McCormick spice packages. And there I found a McCormick Chili spice packet with full instructions on how to make a semi homemade chili!

Supplies Needed

McCormick Chili Spice Mix

1 lb Ground Beef

2 cans Diced Tomatoes

1 Can Pinto Beans

Shredded Cheese

Avocados

There is nothing I love more than a simple recipe. And apparently making chili is very simple. All you have to do is brown the ground beef and once you've browned and drained the beef, you just through in the tomatoes and beans in.

And then you just let it heat up together and let it simmer until you want to eat it. (I think the longer you let it simmer the better, but I'm not quite sure how true that is)

Anyway I didn't let it sit too long, so I didn't have a chance to test my theory out. (There's always next time!)

And I decided to top my bowl of chili with avocado and cheese. (And most importantly it was definitely easy to eat after having my wisdom teeth out).
