Cardboard Pattern Pieces
This is probably one of the first , but I definitely used it for a while and then I just stopped. I think I forgot about it and I just remembered it. And I'm really thankful I did because I've got some big sewing projects coming up that definitely could use it.

Finally remembering this tip has a lifesaver for my upcoming project. (I guess that makes it a project saver?). For this project I need large pattern pieces. These pieces are so large that it took me four print jobs and rotating the pattern to create a full pattern piece.
So the first couple of times I tried tracing out my pattern onto the fleece, it shifted easily on me. So needless to say I was happy when I remembered something about using cardboard to create pattern pieces. So I happily pulled out some spare cardboard and got to tracing my pattern!
After I traced the pattern onto the cardboard, I made sure to label each piece. This way once I had all my pieces, I wouldn't get the mixed up. And then I cut them out.
What I love about the hack is that when I found it, it simple mentioned using the cardboard pattern pieces to weigh down the pattern. So that pattern weights would no longer be needed.
And the cardboard definitely weighs the pattern piece perfectly. So that I was perfectly able to trace around it and cut out the perfect piece.
And then while I was trying to find where i found the tip, I stumbled upon another use for cardboard pattern pieces. Apparently they are good multiple uses and the cardboard pieces are better for long term storage.
It truly is a win-win situation!
