Deep Cleaning the White Board
At the start of the new year, Mike and I did what we do best: started cleaning and organizing the house. His job was simple: clean Blue's room up and move Lion's crib into the spare room. My job was a little trickier. I once again had to clean off my desk. (It seems that no matter how hard I try to keep it clean, inevitably by the end of the year it is full of clutter again!).
However, while I was once again cleaning off my desk, I realized I had neglected my dry erase calendar for sometime. Over that time, the ink that was on my board became semi permanent, so when I went to erase it, it just created a big mess!
Needless to say, I turned to Pinterest to see if anybody had any good cleaning tips.
The Tip
Use Different Cleaning Products to Fully Clean My White Board
Cleaning Tip from Hunker.com
Supplies Needed:
Dirty Dry Erase Board (I have a dirty Dry Erase Calendar)
Rubbing Alcohol
Empty Mist Spray Bottle
Results:
There were a bunch of different cleaning tips on Pinterest, but I liked the Hunker.com version the best because it gave various different ways to clean a dry erase board. The first way to clean a dry erase board is to use rubbing alcohol solution to remove the ink. (I made my own solution by mixing 1 part rubbing alcohol with 2 parts water into a mist spray bottle). I then sprayed it over my board and wiped off the excess.
Here's how my board looked afterwards:
It didn't make much a difference. So I moved onto the next way to clean the dry erase board: use goo gone to remove the tough stains. I sprayed the board with goo gone and gave another thorough wiping.
Here's how it looked afterwards:
It didn't do a whole lot either, but I liked that it oiled up my dry erase board. (It made it seem like it was conditioning my old dry erase calendar)
In the end I decided the best course of action was to use the goo gone and a magic eraser.
Here's how it looked after I tried it on a couple of squares:
And here is how it looked once I cleaned the entire board:
Not quite brand new, but good enough for me!
