Monday Free Write

Unless you are in my very close personal circle, you wouldn't guess that I am very into true crime. I think I may have mentioned only once before that I listen to true crime podcasts while I'm driving (and recently while I'm doing household chores!). My favorite is My Favorite Murder. It's hosted by two badass women, Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff and its like two old friends chit chatting while also discussing their respective "favorite" murders for the week.

Perhaps my favorite part of the podcasts (besides feeling that I found my fellow weirdos who find a little bit of humor in true crime as well), is that Karen is constantly commenting on all the fun house dresses that Georgia is wearing. And in one episode Georgia explains that its almost like her version of sweatpants. All of her house dresses are super comfortable and they make it look like she's put together, even though she feels like she's not.

I never quite understood her point. But I guess I've never really liked dress. I mean, I like wearing them and I like the way they make me feel, but i don't really like hanging around the house in them. (Especially now) I always feel like if I move the wrong way or sit the wrong way I'm flashing somebody. And dresses aren't really made to get down in the mud with my boys. So I was content to just continue to wear my sweatpants.

Until I picked up a romper to wear to my brother's wedding rehearsal. It's cute and made of jersey or cotton. (I really should learn fabric types!) and it is super comfortable. And wearing it gives me that feeling that Georgia must get. wearing her house dresses. I feel completely comfortable, as comfortable as I do wearing sweatpants, but yet I also look completely put together. (Well sort of... I do tend to still have my hair pulled back and not wear any make up!)

And now all I look for when I shop is more rompers to wear. (So I'm not tempted to wear the same one every day!) And in fact I picked up a couple more today while I was at Target!
