Cinci x Orl Chili
I had so much fun making chili the other week that I decided to make it again (and try to left it sit for a while!). And when I was picking up my spice mix, I looked on the back and discovered a recipe for Cincinnati chili. It looked interesting and I decided it couldn't hurt to try it.
The Recipe

McCormick Spice Packet
Supplies Needed:
1lb Ground Beef
1 McCormick Spice Packet
1 can diced tomatoes

So I began making this one day while Mike and Lion were at his parents house. Blue, after I made him come inside to help me, was happy to help make dinner.
Or at least to steal my ingredients and utensil, and turn them into a drum set! It was cute and it was the perfect distraction for him while I was browning my meat. (Mike insists I do it on low... and I do it to make him happy)
Eventually he wondered off and I was able to start mixing things together. And I know that in real Cincinnati Chili the beans are saved to top the dish, but we had a spare can of black beans hanging about and Mike mentioned something about adding them to chili.
After I had all my ingredients mix together, I lowered my burner down to low and let it sit. Every time it looked like it was getting dried out, I added some water in and it seemed to help with the appearance.
Once I knew that Mike and Lion were about 30 mins out, I started the pasta. I went with shells instead of spaghetti because I don't really like spaghetti. I heated up my can of chili beans as well. (With all the changes I made, I knew I couldn't call it Cincinnati Chili if I didn't have chili beans to top it with. And yes I know kidney beans are supposed to be used, but I clearly don't care!)
Blue came back to help at this point. He was helping at water to the chili and then stir the chili together. And well my timing wasn't perfect for Mike and Lion, so I let everything sit for a little while longer. Eventually I couldn't wait any longer and I ate without them. (Blue ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.)
Here is how it turned out:
It's not the best view, but it was rather interesting and I think with a different pasta and some shredded cheese it might actually be pretty good!
