P is for Puzzle
As I was going through the activity book pages I've already finished, the puzzle page caught my eye. It was perhaps one of my better put together pages in the activity book...
But I just wasn't happy with the overall design of the puzzle. I knew that I could make it better, so I decided to give it an update!

Here's How You Do It:
Step 1: Setting Up the Puzzle Board
The first thing I did to remake my puzzle page was to switch the background felt from neon yellow felt to a orange red felt. And then I removed my the puzzle piece pocket from the old puzzle page and stitch it to the new page.
I thought it would be a nice touch to bring the two pages together. (I also figure it would save me time in back stitching on 'is for Puzzle later!)
Once I had that in place I knew how big I could make my puzzle grid. So I cut out a 8 x 7 inch rectangle from white felt and then stitched in onto the page. I then created a 1 x 1 inch grid across the felt.
Then I filled each square with a patch of female velcro and sew it into place. To finish up the grid I used black embroidery thread and back stitched along my grid lines.
(I tried using my sewing machine for this but I couldn't get the lines to be dark enough, so I just decided to do it by hand instead)
Step 2: Creating Puzzle Pieces
Last time I made the puzzle page, I made my pieces look like real puzzle pieces, but for this page I decided to make Tetris styled pieces.
To make my pieces I used some scrap felt colors in various colors and cut out various shapes similar to Tetris tiles.
Once I had enough pieces cover the board, I then cut out the same piece in the black felt. Next I stitch on male velcro to the black pieces. Finally I stitch the colored felt pieces to the black felt pieces.
Here is how the page looks so far
Step 3: Finishing Touches
Since I already added the 'is for Puzzle' in the first step, I just added the 'P' from the previous page to finish the page.
Here's How It Turned Out:
