You know all week I've been reading about everything they've figured out about the mass shooting and about all the conspiracy theories about it. (The only one I put stock into is that he may have had help setting up the hotel room, but even that seems like a stretch without real evidence to support it). It just seems funny to me that here we are a week later and nobody can figure out a motive. Honestly I think they're looking too hard. Sometimes there isn't a motive. Its just that, that guy was a psychopath and probably got off on all the terror he caused not only in Vegas, but also all the terror he knew that would happen all over the US. And, maybe, its the fact that being a mass shooter is the easiest way to become infamous in America.

But I am no expert in the field. I'm just really into true crime and this story seems to be nothing new.

And since we're talking about true crime, I just learned that two of my favorite unsolved cases are looking like they're about to be solved. (They both have suspects that have been arrested and are both awaiting trials. So fingers crossed the families finally get a sense of closure).

The first is the disappearance of Kara Kopetsky. In 2007, she was a 17 year old girl who walked out of her high school one day and was never seen again. Her case was often linked to the disappearance of Kelsey Smith, who disappeared from Target. The cops eventually found Kelsey's remains and were also able to find her killer just before he ran out of town. The weird thing is that both girls lived in a similar area in Missouri, so I just assumed that the man who killed Kelsey also killed Kara, but just wouldn't admit it.

I couldn't have been more wrong. This year they were finally able to find Kara's remains oddly enough along side the remains of another woman, Jessica Runions. The cops quickly put two and two and realized that both women had the same ex-boyfriend. Luckily they were able to find enough evidence to arrest him! So fingers crossed that both families get closure and justice that they definitely deserve.

The second case is the Jenner Beach Murders. This is the 2004 murder of 22 year old Lindsey Cutshall and her 26 year old fiance Jason Allen. The two worked at a Christian youth camp and were taking a weekend trip, when somebody killed them both as they were asleep in their sleeping bags. Its been such a weird murder to me, that I wasn't quite sure would ever get solved.

The murders have been often linked to Isreal Keyes. (He was a serial killer, who kept most of his murders secretive, so that his daughter wouldn't have to read about it one day or be harassed about them). Honestly I never really liked Keyes for this one. It just never felt like one of his murders. I can't really explain why, but I also thought this wouldn't get solved.

So after I learned the Kara's case had finally moved to a trial, I searched again for the Jenner Beach Murders. And I was startled and thrilled to see that not only had the cops arrested a guy for this murder, but it was also their number one suspect for it as well. (The fact that the cops never let out that they had a main suspect, I think is super impressive and I'm really proud of all the hard work that they must have put in to finally get enough evidence to catch him after 13 years!)

With those two cases finally being solved, it gives me hope that with a lot of hard work that some of the other unsolved cases I'm watching will get solved too!

(And yes, sometimes, while I'm at Target, I think about Kelsey Smith and I just remind myself to be aware of everybody around me, to make sure nobody's following me around the store and then trying to ambush me in the parking lot.)
