C is for Color
As I was pulling out pages from the activity book, I happened upon my old C is for Color page.
I remember liking the page well enough. However from the time I put it away in the drawer and then later into the trunk, I lost a couple of the craft sticks. (And Lion stole the rest when I was looking it over!). It was all well and good, I suppose. As I've been researching quiet book pages, I stumbled across a couple of pages that were better put together than mine.
So I decided it was time to give C is for Color an update.

Here's How You Do It:
Step 1: Setting Up The Page
Normally I would save stitching on 'C' and back stitching on 'is for Color' until the end, but since it was already on my old page, I decided this would be the perfect place to start with the new page.
In the end it worked out perfectly because I knew exactly how much room I had to play with for putting the sticks on. So the only thing I needed to do was take off the old pockets
Step 2: Creating the Foam Sticks
I decided to switch up my wooden craft sticks to foam craft sticks. I just found that the wood craft sticks bled when my boys stuck them in their mouths and I didn't like how firm they were. Luckily when I searching for new craft sticks, I found foam craft sticks.
Unfortunately the foam sticks were too flimsy for my liking. So while I was cutting them down to size, I glued a couple them together. To make sure they dried flat, I stuck the glued sticks in some wax paper and then placed the bundle between two heavy books.
Step 3: Finishing Touches
To complete my page, I put my page and sticks together. First I decided to glue down felt strips the same size and color of their corresponding craft stick. Then I cut out scraps felt in the same colors of the craft sticks and began sewing them across the glue on felt pieces. So that pockets were created over the lines.
This way the craft sticks would be secured in the page. (And harder for my boys to lose!)
