Garden Update
All right the last time I talked about my garden it looked like this
So that was roughly two months ago. And a lot has changed since then. After a freak wind storm and several Lion attacks, Mike finally set up a table for me. And for extra protection, he screwed down a smaller table on top. So now my garden looks like this:
And so far, its survived a sort of windy day and Blue and Lion have both climbed up there, but its easy for us to stop it before any real damage begins.
So apart from the physical changes I made to the garden, I also had a complete overhaul in my plants.
First up I replanted some bell pepper seeds. I pretty much dumped a whole lot of them into on toilet paper roll. And I wasn't expecting much from it.
Until I looked out one day and I had so many seeds sprouting, they were busting through the side of the roll. I just love that they seem to grow better together! (And maybe that was why I couldn't get my first couple of batches really growing!)
And my pumpkin vines didn't survive the first wind storm (or me trying to pick the dead leaves off), so I'm saving the rest of my seeds for when I can put them in a proper place to grow.
So instead I decided to try growing sweet potatoes. Which apparently are easy to start. You just take a sweet potato, cut it in half, stick it in water and wait for sprouts to grow off of it. (And then once the sprouts are about 8 inches long, you plant them)
So as you can see, I just started the sweet potatoes, but they already have a couple of sprouts starting to grow.
And finally my avocados...
I started a new batch of pits around the start of December (and I did mark the containers, so I would know if they were growing right or not, but then I switched into smaller containers and didn't transfer the date over)
So now my older pits are about to start sprouting roots and shoots! Its very exciting and hopefully by the next update, I'll have some avocado plants starting to form!
