Crocheting a 2018 Temperature Blanket
We may only be about a week into the new year (and I may have just finished a crochet series), but I've already started a year long project. Around the end of last year Lion Brand posted this image on Facebook with a caption about making a temperature blanket.
Up until this point I hadn't really thought about a year long project, but after I saw it I knew it would be really fun to make
The Project
Crochet a Temperature Blanket for 2018
Idea from Lion Brand
Corner to Corner Tutorial from Make and Do Crew
Supplies Needed:
(So far)
1 Skein Medium Weight Blue Yarn (I used Vannas Choice Aqua)
1 Skein Medium Weight Teal Yarn (I used Vannas Choice Aquamarine)
1 Skein Medium Weight Green Yarn (I used Vanna's Choice Radiant Lime)
Results
Since I live in Florida, the first thing I had to do was adjust the color temperature chart. I wanted to use as many different colors as I could, but we just don't get that broad of a temperature change here. Here is what I came up with instead:
(In hind sight I should have the bottom limit at 40 and worked up from there, but I like how the colors are coming together too much right now to change it).
Once I had my color chart figured out, I had to figure out what kind of blanket to make. I actually knew right away that I wanted to make this a corner to corner blanket. I search Pinterest to figure everything out with that and I found that Make and Do Crew has a fantastic tutorial for every step of making a corner to corner blanket.
From there I was able to figure out that I wanted to make my blanket throw size and that was 75 x 80 squares. That would equal out to about 16 squares a day and would enough extra so I could add on a 2018 into the middle of the blanket. (I was able to figure this all out by blocking my blanket on stitchfiddle.com which I'll share once I figure out how to add a picture of it I'll show you my blanket grid).
Anyway here is how my blanket looks so far.
Its not much, but I really love how these colors are coming together.
