My Early (and unusual) Mother's Day Present
Mother's day is a special day for most of the world. However in my house it is really just another Sunday. As Mike told me a couple years ago, "I'm not his mother, so he doesn't have to do anything for me." Yes, I know I got a real winner on that one. So instead of expecting a big lavish gift on Mother's day, I can often trick him into doing something nice for me close to Mother's Day and claim that as my gift.
This years "gift" is a tool storage trunk to store all my craft supplies in. If you will recall I've been trying to reorganize my desk for a month now and quite frankly the hardest part is that Lion likes to get into everything. (And by this point he has either figured out how to break my drawer latches or they have broken beyond repair.) So having a safe space to store my craft supplies was beyond needed.
And I know that its really meant to hold tools, but I've quickly figured out how to organize all my supplies. The top has a removable bin, that I've figured was as good a place as any to store my tools in. I really like that it has two bins, so that I can store my scissors and other cutters in one side and my miscellaneous sewing tools in the other (my pin box, crochet hooks, measuring tapes, and whatever else I throw in there... right now that would be my hot glue gun).
I also enjoy that, that bin sits on the top of the trunk. This means I have easy access to the supplies I need. (And I can store bigger things underneath). I also enjoy the bin is big enough to store my supplies, but still small enough that I can fit a secondary supply bin next to it.
And that brings me to the main part of the trunk: the underneath storage. Right now its a little bit of a mess. I'm still trying to find the right sized boxes to use. But so far I'm using it to store all my unfinished projects... and right now that's mainly for my activity book.
So I guess overall, I'm just really happy he gave me one of his extra storage trunks. And I can't wait to start organizing it completely. (And start finishing up those projects in there... I'm looking at you activity book!)
